Creating art fulfills the need to make a mark, to say something with images. It is a reflection of who we are and where we come from—an accumulation of our past experiences.

Growing up in an artistic family in scenic Northern Ireland I have always enjoyed painting. In the eighties I moved to Dallas, Texas, with my husband and three children. Subsequently, when Houston became home I spent a few years taking still life and landscape classes at the Williamson Studio and Houston Art League. However, the subjective and emotional precept of abstract art inspired me to switch to that genre. By working in layers and intentionally leaving some of the previous paint and texture visible, I explore the idea of a continuum—how the past actively shapes the present.

I have exhibited through Oil Painters of America and American Women Artists as well as locally at Reeves Art + Design and Archway Gallery.
